Monti’s Matcha Series: Ceremonial Grade Matcha in Albert Park

If you’ve been looking for matcha in Albert Park, Monti Food and Wine is worth the visit. Two ceremonial grade matcha drinks — the Classic Strawberry Matcha with Strawberry Foam and the Special Blueberry Matcha — are now on the drinks menu, and they’re a cut above what most cafés in Melbourne are serving. Here’s everything on the menu and what to expect.

What Makes Monti’s Matcha Different

Not all matcha is equal. Most cafés use culinary grade matcha — fine for baking, but thin and bitter in a drink. Monti uses ceremonial grade matcha — the highest grade, stone-ground from the youngest tea leaves, with a smooth, grassy sweetness and none of the bitterness.

It’s the same grade used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. In a drink, it means a richer colour, a deeper flavour, and a much cleaner finish. If you’ve tried matcha before and found it bitter or flat, ceremonial grade is a different experience entirely.

Matcha in Albert Park: What’s on the Menu

Matcha drinks at Monti Food and Wine Albert Park

Classic Strawberry Matcha with Strawberry Foam — $10

Ceremonial grade matcha layered with fresh strawberry compote and iced milk, topped with a light strawberry foam.

The strawberry compote is made in-house. The foam sits on top like a light cloud, and the drink layers visually — deep green matcha at the base, pink compote in the middle, pale foam on top. It photographs beautifully and tastes even better. Bright, floral, and refreshing — this is the one that gets ordered twice.

Special Blueberry Matcha — $9

Ceremonial grade matcha blended with blueberry compote and iced milk, giving a cool, fruity finish.

Where the strawberry version is bright and floral, the blueberry matcha is deeper and more grounded. The blueberry adds an earthiness that complements the grassy notes of the matcha rather than competing with them. It’s the more understated of the two — and tends to be the more addictive one.

The Rest of the Drinks Menu

Not a matcha drinker? The drinks menu has a few other standouts worth knowing about.

Iced Pistachio Latte — $9

Creamy iced pistachio latte topped with a golden kataifi nest and a swirl of Pistachio Papi. One of the most visually striking things on the menu — the kataifi nest on top makes it genuinely hard not to photograph before drinking.

Caramel Frappuccino — $9

Ice-cream blended caramel frappé with house caramel and a bold AllPress double shot, finished with velvety whipped cream. Rich, indulgent, and unapologetically good. The AllPress coffee cuts through the sweetness so it never feels one-dimensional.

Monti Blanc — $9

Silky cold brew crowned with rich cream cold foam, finished with fragrant orange zest and a delicate hint of nutmeg. The most refined drink on the menu — the orange zest lifts the cold brew in a way that’s subtle but completely deliberate. Named after Mont Blanc for good reason.

Planning Your Visit

Monti is open seven days — Monday to Friday 7am–3pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am–3pm. The full drinks menu is available all day from open until close.

Weekend mornings fill up fast, particularly between 9am and 11am for brunch. If you’re coming with a group, booking a table is recommended. Walk-ins are welcome during the week.

Monti Food and Wine is the Albert Park café that takes its wine as seriously as its brunch — which means you can pair your matcha with something from the wine list if the mood strikes. You can also come for breakfast or stay through lunch. Not many spots in Albert Park let you do all of that at the same table.
